Gompers Fifth Anniversary Celebration!

In 2005, history was made when the San Diego Unified School District voted 5-0 to approve the charter for Gompers.  In the five years since, we have changed a school--and a community!  Sunday, April 11, 2010 we celebrated five years of positive change at Gompers!

5th Anniversary Gala Celebration!
On Sunday, April 11, Gompers celebrated five years of positive change at its fifth anniversary celebration. The event took place at sunset in the beautiful oceanview courtyard of the Institute of Americas at our partner institution, UCSD. Approximately 160 guests were in attendance. Guests sampled lobster macaroni and cheese from Maderas Resort, rotisserie chicken from a Rotisserie affair, seared ahi tuna crudites from Wet Stone Grill, Pulled pork sandwiches from Buckboard catering, and carne asada quesadillas from Coyote Cafe.

The evening included student performances, live jazz, international beverage and cuisine tasting, and speeches from Gompers supporters, including a keynote address by Senator Christine Kehoe.

The Institute of the Americas is located on the UCSD Campus at 10111 North Torrey Pines Road, La Jolla, CA 92037.
